Practice Owner (Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Qld), MANZCVS, GradDipSc)
Mark grew up in far western Queensland and NT on extensive cattle stations. Upon graduating he took up his first vet job in Dorrigo in 1983. Later that year he was the sole vet at the Dorrigo practice, and ultimately bought the practice in 1986. Since then he has moved "down the hill" to Bellingen to concentrate more on "smallies" after many years working on "largies". He has had various stints away overseas over the years working in the UK in an equine practice, on the foot and mouth outbreak, and a large mixed practice in 2005, as well 15 months in Trinidad lecturing in surgery at the veterinary school.
His great thirst for knowledge and continual improvement, has led him all over the globe regularly attending conferences and seeking out new ideas and viewpoints. He has a special interest in the unfolding world of laser therapy and digital thermography in veterinary medicine. Client education through informed objective advice to deliver better health, welfare and general well-being outcomes for animals has been a driving force throughout his veterinary career.
Outside of work Mark is a keen gardener, bird watcher, runner, bushwalker, photographer and traveller. He lives in Dorrigo with his wife Elizabeth, Foxie the dog and Hiphoppoobum the cat. Their 4 children, who all grew up in the Bellingen Shire, are scattered from Newcastle to Sydney.
Quote: "Any animals, be they domestic or wild, that do not have a sound relationship with a human or humans are bound for extinction. If no one cares they will be gone - such are humans."

Trainee Veterinary Nurse
Rachel grew up on her grandparent's farm in the North of Brisbane. When she graduated high school she completed a Bachelor at the University of Queensland and quickly realised academia was not her calling and decided to follow her heart and pursue a career working with animals.
Rachel volunteered at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital for over a year and decided to study a Certifcate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
In early 2019 it came time to choose a clinic to do her workplacement and so she followed her parents to Bellingen and continued her studies with us. And soon became a valuable team member. With an inherent love for wildlife, she signed up as a WIRES volunteer and is currently specialising in flying foxes.
Rachel spends her spare time studying and walking her two dogs on the beach.
